Why did I receive a several SMS messages?

The cellular network will transmit up to 160 characters of text in one SMS message.  If the sender exceeds that character limit, the cellular network will break the message up and send several messages.  Please note:  if you do receive multiple messages, make sure you are reading them in order.  SMS messages that are broken up in the network do not always arrive in sequential order on your cell phone.    Check your message.  You may see a note that says 2/2 or 1/2, meaning part 2 of 2 messages, or part 1 of 2 …

Will this cost me anything?

Maybe. Depending on your wireless carrier provider and the plan you have, you may be charged a nominal fee (i.e approximately 10 or 15 cents) to receive SMS text messages. If you have an unlimited text messaging plan, there would be no additional charge
